Paul Pelosi, the husband of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., pleaded no contest to a July hit-and-run involving a parked car and will have his driving privileges suspended for six months, a California prosecutor’s office said Tuesday. Pelosi, 86, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor hit-and-run and a traffic infraction of making an unlawful turn, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office said.

Pelosi struck an unoccupied, parked vehicle in Yountville, a town in California’s wine country, on July 3 and left the scene, the prosecutor’s office said. He reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and was sentenced to one year of summary probation and is prohibited from driving for six months, the district attorney’s office said. Pelosi was also ordered to complete a 10-day work program, it said, and he paid $11,191.14 in restitution to the owner of the vehicle he hit.

There were no allegations that drugs or alcohol were involved, and Pelosi was not arrested. A Pelosi family spokesperson previously told NBC News that Pelosi had “ personally apologized ” to the owner of the vehicle he hit and “assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle.” Nancy Pelosi, the former House speaker, is finishing her remaining term as a U.S. representative for her San Francisco-area district after a long tenure in Congress that began with a 1987 special election. Last year, she announced her retirement from Congress and said she would not seek re-election .
